by An international art work is visiting Australia for the first time as part of the Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference in March next year.
The Amsterdam Rainbow dress was modelled today in front of the Sydney Harbour by actor, theatre critic and trans woman Suzy Wrong.
The dress is made from the national flags of the 71 countries where it is still illegal to be LBGTQIA+ on penalty of imprisonment, torture or death.

Each time a country changes its law, its national flag is replaced by a rainbow one.
Since the dress was created in 2016, the national flags of six countries – Angola, Belize, India, Trinidad and Tobago and Botswana – have been replaced by the rainbow flag.
The dress will continue to travel around Australia and the world to encourage debate and awareness about LGBTQIA+ human rights issues.

The dress is over 3.5 metres tall and has a 16 metre diameter.
The Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference is on from March 1 to 3, 2023.
